    Draft Multimodal Recommendations

    Recommended Safety Improvement Needs
    previous next
Analysis and recommendations from the recently completed “Long-Range Analysis and Prioritization of Select Intersections” study and safety analysis performed as part of the TMP served as the primary basis for the intersection capacity and intersection safety need recommendations. Needs include: • Conducting comprehensive corridor safety studies to determine elements that pose a safety concern on the existing roadway and to identify mitigation measures to improve safety. • Conducting intersection evaluation studies to assess the need for additional turn lanes or traffic control enhancements. • Constructing safety and intersection improvements, including signage, marking, adding lighting, and constructing grade separated railroad crossings. The City of Mesa is in the process of preparing a Citywide Safety Action Plan. It is anticipated that the preliminary safety recommendations identified in this section will be further evaluated and refined as part of the Safety Action Plan.
